The Ythan Cycle Run took place again
on Saturday 28th May 2011,
this year starting and finishing at the
Royal British Legion Hall, Fyvie.
The purpose of the Ythan Cycle Run is to raise money for charity. The unique aspect of this event is however that, in addition to the main designated charities, the entrants get to nominate a Charity to which half of any sponsorship money they raise will be directed.
Our main sponsored Charities this year were
Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS)
and "Befriend a Child"

In 2011, the event started and finished at the Royal British Legion Hall, Fyvie. It included both long Challenge (26.4 mile), and short Family (8.3 mile) runs arranged to
suit varying age, capability and fitness levels. This year we had 34 entrants for the Challenge, and 14 for the Family Run, including 2 children under 7years of age.
The Challenge Route this year was from Fyvie, through Fyvie Castle estate to Tifty, Gourdas, Keithen, Burnside and Cairnorrie to Methlick, and return via Gight, Lethenty, Netherton, Monkshill and back to Fyvie. The Family Route followed the same route as the Challenge for the first 4 miles, but then took a short-cut through to rejoin the tail end of the Challenge route at Monkshill and then back to Fyvie. Both routes required considerable stamina, but from feedback from all of the competitors, was felt to be hard but thoroughly enjoyable. The weather for the event was mainly clear and sunny, but with a stiff wind which assisted a bit on the outward climbs but sapped the stamina on the return leg.

A total of £1540 was raised for charity, and was distributed as follows:-
